PURPOSE
After 15 days touring Spain, the teaching and presence of the Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh has to be available for everyone. By then, thousands of people will have attended his speeches and hundreds will have taken part in the practices of Plum Village. For many of them this will be the first encounter with mindfullness. Many of his followers and other interested parties will not have been able to be present at the different events because of the enormous demand for places or for financial reasons.

The message of Thay (Teacher) has to come to everyone without distinction or limitation.

Thay’s presence among us has no beginning nor end the same way as life and no-life. It represents only a transformation process; thus we can only speak of continuation.

This event is the best way to wish all of you: “Happy continuation”.

VISION:
The bell is invited to sound by Thays quiet hand. Its vibration expands and reunites with our breathing, melted into one being, the being of all, the breathing of all, the vibration of all.

May this sound fill the silences. May it expand to all the worlds. May it calm down the torrent of our frenetic minds. May it expand until it clams down every person.

Quiet, without hurrying, with nothing to do, nothing to think about, nor before nor after, alone with our present moment. Fully aware of our presence.

Let us rest. Let our exhausted minds rest.
May the love and compassionate chanting flow out of our inner being. Compassion for us, compassion for you, compassion for every being.

Through participation in the collective meditation Flashmob and its warm-up acts. With your family, friends and acquaintances, your work-mates… you will have an experience that will connect you even more.

WHERE?:
Around the Arco de Triunfo in Barcelona, at the beginning of the Paseo Lluís Companys..

WALKING:

Walking in meditation can be very pleasant. We walk with slow steps, alone or with friends, if possible in a beautiful environment. Meditation allows us to really appreciate walking- we don’t walk to arrive at one place, but for the simple fact of walking. The goal is to remain in the present moment, aware of our own breathing and of the fact of walking, enjoying every step. We should forget all our problems and anxieties, not thinking about the past or the future, but only enjoying the present moment. We can walk with slow, tranquil steps, with a half smile on our lips and peace in our hearts. Walk slowly, calmly, just as the most care-free and idle person in the world. Walk in peace.

WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO BRING?
* To sit on the floor:
- A blanket, towel or mat.
- A cushion or zafu

* To sit on the chairs.

- At the sides there are benches you can sit on between the central alley and the flower beds.
- Elderly people can approach the welcoming staff in order to be seated.
- You can also bring a folding chair or stool.

- It could rain since it’s spring. If you bring an umbrella, we could remain standing.

Human beings have four positions. Lying, sitting, standing or walking (moving). All of them are good enough for meditating and keeping silence. We only have to be respectful enough towards the people around us.
We are going to try to place our chairs behind the ones sitting on the floor. We are going to remain standing behind the ones sitting on the chairs.
A big dose of hopeful anticipation, respect and yearning to get in contact with love.

Tranquility: We run too much most of the time. It’s convenient once in a while to stop and breathe.

Silence: We live a noisy life receiving thousands of impacts. We should be able to rest at least for a while: unplug and turn the radio off.

Ours is a demonstration for silence, tranquility, peace and love.
This is a demonstration that goes against nothing.
This is a demonstration always in favor of understanding and connecting.
Through SILENCE and PEACE we want to express to the whole society, to the ones who rule it, to the wise ones and to the powerful ones, that our deepest desire is a society based on mutual understanding and respect towards the achievement of happiness.
